Customer Case Study · New Energy Automotive

In-Line Hot-Grinding & Pelletizing Closed-Loop Recycling System

Application in a new-energy automotive harness charging-gun injection molding project — turning charging-gun sprues and high-voltage cable trim waste into reusable pellets, on site.

01 · Project Information

Tier-1 New-Energy Harness Supplier

Customer Industry

Tier-1 new-energy automotive harness supplier, manufacturing high-voltage harnesses, charging-gun assemblies and battery-pack wiring harnesses for multiple domestic vehicle OEMs, with partial product exports to Europe.

Project Background

Large volumes of injection sprues and defective components were generated during charging-gun housing and connector production. The cable extrusion workshop produced substantial trim waste from high-voltage cable manufacturing. Previously all plastic waste was collected for off-site third-party recycling, resulting in high material loss, labor handling and disposal costs. Externally reprocessed pellets suffered performance degradation and could not be reused for automotive-grade parts. Overseas buyers enforced strict green-factory, REACH and carbon-footprint requirements, demanding on-site closed-loop waste treatment.

Focus Product: In-Line Hot-Grinding & Pelletizing Closed-Loop System

02 · Onsite Application Scenario

Deployed Beside Injection Machines & In the Extrusion Workshop

The recycling system was installed beside injection-molding machines and within the cable extrusion workshop. The injection side connects to multiple charging-gun and connector injection-molding machines, directly receiving charging-gun sprues and defective molded parts.

The extrusion side interfaces with high-voltage cable extrusion lines to process high-voltage-cable trim waste. Recycled pellets are conveyed through pipelines back to local injection and extrusion machines for production of charging-gun housings, connector insulators and high-voltage cable jackets.

03 · Customer Challenges

Pain Points of Off-Site Waste Disposal

Challenge 01

High volumes of charging-gun & connector sprues, defective moldings and high-voltage-cable trim waste required manual sorting, bagging and transportation, bringing high labor cost and significant warehouse occupation.

Challenge 02

Under off-site recycling mode, plastic waste left the factory. Large volumes of virgin resin had to be continuously purchased with severe material-cost loss. Third-party recycled pellets degraded in performance and failed automotive-grade specifications.

Challenge 03

Conventional open-style granulators created heavy dust and odor, worsening workshop conditions and failing on-site green-factory audits from European customers.

Challenge 04

Pressure for carbon-footprint and REACH compliance required traceable in-house waste-recycling documentation for OEM supplier assessments.

04 · KexLink Solution Deployment

Product Configuration & Onsite Integration

Product Configuration

✔ In-line (beside-the-press) grinding unit
✔ Material conveying module
✔ Dust & exhaust-gas filtration / purification assembly
✔ Pelletizing unit
✔ Enclosed pneumatic return pipelines

Onsite Deployment & Customization

Grinding units are placed adjacent to injection-molding machines. Sprues and defective parts can be directly fed into the hopper. In the extrusion workshop the system connects to the waste outlet of extrusion lines.
Fully enclosed machine structure is equipped with dust and exhaust-gas filtration components.
Grind-shear and pelletizing parameters are tuned for charging-gun engineering plastics and high-voltage cable-jacket materials to preserve original physical properties.
Recycled pellets are transported back to production equipment via sealed pipelines. The system records waste input and recycled-material consumption and generates recycling-usage reports.

05 · Project Results

What the Customer Gained

Lower Handling Cost

On-site waste treatment eliminated labor and warehouse costs for waste bagging, handling and outbound transportation. Overall waste-recovery rate reaches above 95%.

Material Reuse

Recycled pellets retain satisfactory material properties and can be proportionally reused for charging-gun housings, connector insulators and high-voltage cable jackets, greatly reducing virgin-resin procurement.

Cleaner Workshop

Fully enclosed grinding-pelletizing structure controls dust and odor, improving workshop environment and supporting successful on-site green-factory audits from overseas customers.

Audit-Ready Records

The system keeps complete recycling-cycle records available for OEM carbon-footprint and REACH supplier assessments.

“Charging-gun injection molding and high-voltage cable extrusion generate large quantities of plastic waste which previously had to be sent off-site for disposal with heavy material losses. After deploying KexLink’s in-line grinding & pelletizing closed-loop system, waste is recycled and re-pelletized inside our workshop. Qualified regrind pellets go straight back into production. We save substantial material costs while the enclosed design satisfies European customer green-factory audit requirements.”
